PRODUCT INFORMATION

Honda Civic Type R FK8 / FL5 — Big Brake System

Maximum Stopping Power

This is the complete brake upgrade for the Honda Civic Type R. The Big Brake System replaces the front caliper entirely with a Paragon PA035 6-piston unit and pairs it with two-piece rear rotors. The result is a four-corner system built for repeated high-speed braking, lap after lap.

What’s Included

  • Paragon PA035 6-piston front big brake kit 355mm
  • Paragon 2-piece rear rotor 305mm
  • Hawk HP660 race brake fluid
  • Winmax rear brake pads (P3, R5, or R7 compound)

Why These Parts

Pad Compounds

Available in P3 (performance street), R5 (track — high heat tolerance) or R7 (race — maximum friction, requires heat to activate, track use only).

  • P3 — performance street — stronger bite, handles moderate heat
  • R5 — track — aggressive bite, high heat tolerance
  • R7 — race — maximum friction, requires heat to activate, track only

Paragon PA035 6-Piston Front Big Brake Kit

The Paragon PA035 6-piston caliper replaces the factory 4-pot Brembo with a significant increase in clamping force and pad area. The 355mm rotor maximises leverage on the factory upright — direct bolt-on, no adapter required.

Paragon Rear 2-Piece Rotors

Paragon rear two-piece rotors 305mm complete the four-corner upgrade. No rear caliper change is required — the factory rear Brembo is retained, working with the improved rotor to deliver matched braking balance front and rear.

Hawk HP660 Race Fluid

HP660 race fluid is included because even the Type R's capable factory system has a fluid boiling point that can be reached under sustained track braking. A fresh fill takes that variable off the table.

Fitment

Honda Civic Type R FK8 2017–2021 / FL5 2023–2025

Fitment note: The front big brake kit requires wheel clearance verification. The FK8 and FL5 Type R run 20" wheels as standard — clearance is typically not an issue, but confirm with your specific wheel before ordering.

Alcon Big Brake Kit common questions

Alconkits - the primary Alcon distributor

Why should you buy direct from AlconKits.com?

General retailers and marketplaces list Alcon brake kits, but they typically cannot advise on fitment, wheel clearance, pad compounds, or long-term service parts. You can buy Alcon Brakes from lots of places - but you SHOULD buy them from Alconkits.com. Alconkits.com is a specialist distributor focused exclusively on Alcon systems.

What support do I get when buying from Alconkits.com?

You get brake experts live every time. We answer the phone with 25 years of Alcon Brakes support. Our experts will help you choose the right kit, with the right fit, guaranteed. Plus, when you need replacement parts and service knowledge, you will only get that from Alconkits.com - not someone who just sells general automotive parts.

What happens if I need pads, rotors, or service parts later?

This is an excellent question to ask. We stock replacement parts for everything we sell - and maintain a full cross-reference catalog for all compatible parts. When you buy from Alconkits.com an authorized primary distributor of Alcon Brakes you will get a lifetime of advice and support that other vendors cannot match.

Is Alconkits.com an authorized Alcon distributor?

Yes. You can find authorized dealers on the manufacturers website - and we are seen as one of the largest most knowledgeable dealers in the world, and certainly in the United States.

What are the main reasons people choose Alconkits?
  1. Factory-engineered systems designed for brake performance and durability require expert advice
  2. Lifetime technical support included when purchased from Alconkits.com.
  3. Support beyond just sale, we help you select pads, ensure fitment, and service your brakes.

In short, you want an expert driven purchase decision, from a vendor that provides value beyond the product, with service, support, and expertise. That is the Alconkits.com promise delivered every day.

Installation

What tools do I need to install?

Our brake kits require common hand tools for installation. You will need a torque wrench, brake fluid (2 pints), and loctite.

What if I run into issues while installing?

We pride ourself in expert advice. You can call or text us at 630-360-2548 for expert technical and installation advice.

Are any other modifications required?

For OEM installations where wider rotors are fitted, you should expect to remove or trim the rotor dust/heat shield. This often interferes with larger rotors but is no longer needed due to our upgraded components.

Will I need a new Master Cylinder

No. All of our brake kits are designed specifically to work with the hydraulic ratio of your stock master cylinder

Do I need wheel spacers

We provide a fitment template for you to check clearance in advance. In some cases a small spacer may be required and we provide those when we are sure they are needed.

Are brake pads included?

Yes. We include the appropriate brake pads for all our brake kits. In some cases we offer multiple compounds for you to customize your experience. We stock a wide variety of pads for Alcon Brake kits here.

Break In questions

Do I need to brake in new rotors/pads?

Yes! We highly recommend following our brake pad/rotor bed in process. This ensures that an even layer of pad material is deposited on the rotor to eliminate shudder, increase rotor life, and to heat temper the new rotors for longer life.

What about noise and dust?

Noise and dust are related to the brake pad compound. Higher temp pads have more metallic composition and will therefore increase potential noise and dust the more aggressive the pad. For squealing issues we recommended loosening the caliper and re tightening it. This will sometimes change the caliper "frequency". Additionally "sticky shims" or our titanium pad shims will reduce noise.

Operational Questions

Is this compatible with my ABS?

Yes! We test our brakes to ensure they are fully compatible with your stock ABS on all models we release.

How long do they last?

Lifetime of components is massively variable based on how they are used. High dust/dirt/salt environments will wear seals out more quickly. Heavy Duty or Track use will also affect rotor and pad life.

What is the warranty?

We support the manufacturers 12 month/12000 mile warranty against factory defects and material issues. You can find more details here.
