BMW G8X M2/M3/M4: Track Rotors vs Full Big Brake Kit

BMW G8X M2/M3/M4: Track Rotors vs Full Big Brake Kit

If your G8X M2, M3, or M4 sees occasional track days and you want better heat management without touching the calipers, the Track Ready Rotor System is the sharper, more cost-conscious move: drop-in 2-piece floating rotors at all four corners, full OEM caliper retention, no recoding required. If you're running sustained sessions where the factory Brembo calipers themselves are the ceiling (fade, inconsistent modulation, pad taper from uneven clamping force), the Full Big Brake System replaces every caliper and rotor on the car with Paragon billet aluminum units engineered specifically for that duty cycle.

Track Ready Rotor System

Who It's For

The G8X owner who tracks their car a few times a season, or who has already upgraded to a serious pad compound and found that the stock cast-iron rotors can't keep up. Maybe you're seeing heat cracks, heavy warping, or vibration that starts mid-session and never fully goes away between cool-down laps. You want a meaningful thermal upgrade but you're not ready, or it doesn't make sense for your use case, to replace functional Brembo calipers.

What Stands Out

The Paragon 2-piece rotors at the heart of this system use a CM-250 high-carbon alloy iron friction ring on a 6061-T6 aluminum hat. The floating design lets the ring expand under heat independent of the hat, which is exactly where OEM solid-cast rotors run into trouble during repeated hard stops. Up front, the 380 mm x 36 mm rotor matches OEM diameter and thickness exactly, so fitment inside your existing 19-inch wheels is not a concern. The rear 370 mm x 24 mm rotor is a direct replacement for the OEM unit, and it retains an integrated iron sleeve for the factory electronic parking brake. The CBN (cubic boron nitride) turned surface finish gives an even, consistent pad bed-in across the full face. Both axles use 48-vane directional ventilation for airflow through the hat under sustained braking.

Critically, this kit bolts directly to OEM BMW part numbers 34108093709/10 (front) and 34208093729/30 (rear) for M Compound iron brake cars. No brackets, no new brake lines, no caliper bleeding from scratch with new hardware. The factory ABS and brake bias calibration remain untouched.

Honest Trade-offs

The OEM Brembo 6-piston front caliper is a capable unit, but its thermal limits are fixed. If your sessions are long, your track is stop-heavy, and you're already running a purpose-built track pad, the caliper body and its seals will eventually become the constraint, not the rotor. This system won't change that. It is also not compatible with cars equipped with the factory Carbon Ceramic Brake (CCB) option. And while the Paragon rotor rings are sold separately for future replacement, pad choice still depends on your OEM caliper's pad shape, so track-specific compound options may be narrower than with a purpose-built caliper.

Full Big Brake System

Who It's For

The G8X owner who is genuinely at the limit of the OEM calipers. That means consistent brake fade deep into sessions, uneven pad wear signaling the existing piston configuration isn't clamping uniformly, or a build heading toward a serious track program where the thermal and mechanical ceiling of the stock hardware is a real boundary, not a hypothetical one. This kit also suits the buyer who wants a complete, purpose-built brake system with matched hardware at all four corners, a known pad ecosystem, and new stainless braided lines already in the box.

What Stands Out

The front Paragon PA035 is a 6-piston billet monobloc caliper machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, with staggered-bore pistons coated in titanium nitride (TiN) for heat resistance and corrosion protection. At 7.3 lbs per caliper (without pads), it is a precision component designed for track use rather than adapted from a street application. The front rotor is a fully floating 2-piece unit with 72-vane directional ventilation, a step up from the 48-vane design in the rotor-only system, giving more airflow capacity through the hat during sustained high-speed braking. Buyers choose between a 370 mm or 378 mm front rotor at order; total per-side front system weight runs 33.8 lbs (370 mm option) or 35.7 lbs (378 mm option), inclusive of caliper, rotor, bracket, and pads.

Out back, the Paragon PA025 4-piston caliper replaces the OEM floating single-piston unit entirely. The rear rotor grows to 380 mm x 32 mm, a meaningful step up from the OEM 370 mm x 24 mm setup. Internal dust seals (rather than external boots) are used on both caliper families for better debris resistance in track conditions. Paragon P3 Street/Track pads are included front and rear, and Goodridge stainless braided lines are in the box for all four corners. The system is designed to maintain OEM ABS compatibility without recalibration.

For the appearance-conscious buyer: the PA035 front calipers are finished in mil-spec hard coat anodized or ENP nickel plate, and the visible rotor and caliper combination behind the wheel is a clear statement that this car is built differently from the factory.

Honest Trade-offs

This is a full brake system replacement. Installation is more involved than a rotor swap: new brackets, new lines, bleeding all four corners with fresh fluid. The front rotor options (370 mm and 378 mm) are both smaller in diameter than the OEM 380 mm front rotor; the thermal advantage comes from the rotor design, vane count, and caliper capability rather than raw diameter growth. Minimum wheel clearance for the larger rear rotor (380 mm) should be confirmed for your specific wheel and offset combination before ordering. This system is the right call for a committed track build; for a street car with the occasional open lapping day, the Track Ready Rotor System likely covers all the ground you'll actually use.

How to Choose

Start with an honest look at what you actually do with the car. If you run fewer than four or five track days a year, your sessions are moderate in length, and your current complaint is rotor condition rather than caliper behavior, the Track Ready Rotor System addresses the problem directly without unnecessary complexity. It's a bolt-on upgrade that works with the existing ABS calibration and retains proven Brembo hardware.

If you're running serious lapping programs, already notice the OEM calipers struggling (uneven pad wear, fade that appears progressively earlier in a session, or a pedal that requires more travel as brake temps climb), or you want a complete matched system you can service with a known consumable ecosystem, the Full Big Brake System is the correct answer. It replaces every caliper on the car and upgrades the rear rotor geometry substantially, which is where the OEM single-piston floating unit has the least thermal headroom relative to a purpose-built track caliper.

One firm constraint for both kits: neither is compatible with the factory Carbon Ceramic Brake option. If your car left the factory with CCB, contact Alconkits directly before ordering either system.
