Hellcat Front Brake Kits: 15-20 vs 2021+ Paragon Package

Hellcat Front Brake Kits: 15-20 vs 2021+ Paragon Package

If your Hellcat is a 2015–2020 Charger or Challenger, you need the 15-20 Paragon front kit with its 390 mm rotor matched to the OEM 15.4″ Brembo caliper spec. If you own a 2021 or later Charger or Challenger, the hub and caliper bracket were revised for a larger 400 mm rotor, so you need the 2021+ Paragon front kit. The two rotors are not interchangeable; picking the wrong one by model year is the only real decision here.

15-20 Hellcat Front Kit: Who It's For

This kit is purpose-built for 2015–2020 Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat and Redeye owners, including the 2020 Challenger Super Stock, all of which left the factory with the 15.4″ Brembo 6-piston front brake specification. The Paragon 390 mm ring drops onto the OEM hat interface and caliper bracket without modification.

The upgrade over the OEM 2-piece Mopar rotor is meaningful rather than cosmetic. Paragon replaces the OEM non-directional pillar vanes with 48 directional ventilated vanes, swaps the iron alloy for CM-250 high-carbon cast iron (which resists heat fade better under repeated hard stops), and machines the face with a CBN-turned finish to a lateral runout spec of 0.03 mm or less. The fully floating ring-to-hat connection via H-bobbins lets the ring expand thermally without transmitting distortion to the hat, which is where most brake shudder originates. Each assembly is also balanced to within 2 g, so there is no vibration penalty for the 20″ wheels these calipers require.

At roughly 2.9 lb lighter per corner than the OEM 15.4″ unit, the unsprung and rotational mass reduction is real but modest relative to what the 2021+ owners see. That is simply the geometry: the OEM 15.4″ rotor was already a reasonably light 2-piece design. The honest trade-off here is that this kit is a refinement of the OEM spec, not a dramatic step up in rotor size. If your goal is absolute stopping power through a larger swept area, the OEM already gave 2015–2020 owners a big rotor; Paragon sharpens everything around it. For track days, canyon runs, and towing, that matters.

For street-only drivers who simply want the visual upgrade of a slotted, floating rotor behind a spoke wheel, this kit delivers that too. The black hard-coat or hard-anodized hat options both look the part behind a 20″ wheel, and the Winmax P2 compound is a quiet, dust-tolerant daily pad.

2021+ Hellcat Front Kit: Who It's For

For 2021 and later Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat variants, including Redeye, Widebody, Jailbreak, and the Scat Pack models equipped with the OEM Brembo 6-piston Dynamic Brake Package, Dodge moved the caliper bracket mounting points further outboard on the knuckle and fitted a 400 mm OEM rotor. That 10 mm diameter increase sounds small but it changed the hat geometry entirely: the 2021+ Paragon hat uses a 12-bolt ring-to-hat bobbin pattern versus the 10-bolt pattern on the 15-20 kit. The two hats are not dimensionally interchangeable, and neither are the rotors.

The headline number for this kit is the weight saving. Paragon's 400 mm assembly weighs 26.7 lb per rotor, which is approximately 8.3 lb lighter per corner than the OEM 15.7″ iron unit. That is a significant reduction in unsprung rotational mass at each front corner. The OEM 2021+ rotor grew in diameter but added considerably more mass than the 15.4″ predecessor; the Paragon kit claws most of that back with the aluminum hat. Everything else in the rotor spec (CM-250 ring, 48 directional vanes, CBN-turned face, ≤0.03 mm runout, ≤2 g balance) mirrors what the 15-20 kit offers, because the engineering formula is the same.

The pad situation is worth understanding: Dodge retained the same Brembo 6-piston caliper body for 2021+ and only changed the bracket and rotor. That means the D1405 pad shape (Winmax PBP690T6.150 series) is identical to the one in the 15-20 kit. You get the same four compound choices, from the street-friendly P3 that most road-and-track owners select, up to the R7 for dedicated track use where brake fluid and tire limits are also being managed.

The one honest caveat for 2021+ owners is that this kit is listed as made-to-order. Factor that lead time into your schedule if you are prepping for a specific event.

How to Choose

The decision is almost entirely settled by your VIN's model year. If your car is a 2015–2020 Hellcat or Redeye (including the 2020 Super Stock), buy the 15-20 kit. If it is a 2021 or later Hellcat, Redeye, Widebody, or Jailbreak variant, buy the 2021+ kit. Do not try to fit one generation's rotor to the other's knuckle; the caliper bracket positions and hat designs differ.

Once you have confirmed the right kit for your year, the pad compound is the only remaining choice. P3 is the most popular selection for owners who drive on the street and do occasional track days or canyon sessions. R5 and R7 need heat to work properly and will feel wooden on a cold morning commute; they belong on cars that are trailered to events or at minimum warm-driven to the track. P2 is the right call if the car genuinely never sees a hard stop and you prioritize low dust and quiet operation.

Both kits share the same Paragon and Winmax engineering DNA. The rotor diameter, the hat bolt count, and the OEM cross-reference are what differ. Get those right, and both kits are a direct bolt-on upgrade with no caliper or bracket modification required.
